Eden Greenhouses Warranty Policy

Edenlite Ltd trading as Eden Greenhouses

Every Eden Greenhouse is proudly manufactured in Dunedin using extruded aluminium made in New Zealand.

We stand behind the quality of our products with a 20-Year Guarantee on materials and workmanship. This Warranty Policy explains what is covered, how to make a claim, and your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

1. Your Rights Under New Zealand Law

1.1 Eden Greenhouses complies with the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) and the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA). These Acts guarantee that our products must:

  • be of acceptable quality,
  • match their description, and
  • be fit for their intended purpose.

1.2 Nothing in this warranty limits your rights under these Acts. If there is ever a conflict between this warranty and your statutory rights, your statutory rights under the CGA will always prevail.

2. Warranty Coverage

2.1 Warranty Periods

Eden Greenhouses provides the following warranty cover from the date of shipment for the original purchaser:

Component

Warranty Period

Aluminium structural framework

20 years

Door rollers, auto-vent openers

5 years

Unless otherwise stated, accessories and optional components carry the warranty applicable to that component rather than the 20-year structural guarantee.

2.1.1 The warranty on any replacement parts runs for the remaining period of the original warranty.

2.2 What This Warranty Covers

This warranty covers defects in the materials and workmanship of your Eden Greenhouse and its original supplied components, provided that:

  • The product has been correctly installed according to Eden’s installation instructions on a stable, level foundation designed to avoid water ponding.
  • The product is maintained according to reasonable care guidelines under section 3.1.
  • The product is used in appropriate environmental conditions and not subjected to misuse.

If your warranty claim is accepted, Eden Greenhouses will:

  • Repair or replace the defective component at no cost within the first 3 months (including standard freight within New Zealand).
  • After the first 3 months, replace the part free of charge (excluding freight or installation costs) for the remainder of the warranty period.

2.3 Powder-Coated Finish
The powder-coated finish on the aluminium framework is covered against defects in materials and workmanship that result in peeling, flaking or loss of adhesion under normal residential use. This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal weathering, fading or gradual loss of gloss over time.
  • Damage caused by scratching, abrasion, impact or misuse.
  • Damage caused by contact with fertilisers, chemicals, treated timber, concrete, wet mortar, copper, lead or other dissimilar metals.
  • Corrosion resulting from metal swarf or installation debris not being removed after installation.
  • Damage caused by abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals or pressure washing.
  • Damage resulting from failure to carry out the routine care and maintenance outlined in Section 3.1.
  • Any coating, paint or treatment applied after manufacture.

The care and maintenance recommendations in this Warranty Policy incorporate accepted industry practice for powder-coated aluminium and are intended to maximise the life of your greenhouse.

3. Important Responsibilities & Maintenance

3.1 Care & Maintenance Guidelines

To help preserve your greenhouse and maximise its lifespan, we recommend the following routine maintenance:

  • Wash the glass, aluminium framework and gutters regularly using clean water and a mild pH-neutral detergent to remove dirt, fertiliser, salt and other residues. In coastal or high-pollution environments, more frequent cleaning may be required.
  • Check and clean gutters to ensure water can drain freely.
  • Inspect and service door rollers, hinges and automatic vent openers annually, lubricating moving parts where appropriate.
  • Inspect all fasteners periodically and replace any that show signs of corrosion or deterioration.
  • Maintain adequate ventilation to help minimise excessive condensation and humidity within the greenhouse.
  • Regularly inspect the greenhouse for loose components or signs of wear and address any issues promptly.
  • Following installation, ensure any metal swarf or drilling debris is removed promptly to prevent corrosion or staining.

3.2 Site Compliance

3.2.1 It is your responsibility to ensure your chosen installation site complies with all local council, building, or zoning requirements. This does not affect your rights under the CGA.

3.2.2 Greenhouses should be installed in a suitable location that is reasonably sheltered from excessive wind. Where a site is exposed or prone to strong prevailing winds, suitable shelter such as fencing, hedging or other windbreaks should be provided to help reduce wind loading on the structure.
