What makes Eden Greenhouses different to others available in NZ?
Eden Greenhouses are locally made in Dunedin, crafted for tough Kiwi conditions using premium Comalco aluminium and Grade A toughened safety glass. With over 50 years of experience, we build strong, durable, customisable greenhouses supported by a knowledgeable local team.
Is an Eden greenhouse suitable for my backyard?
Eden Greenhouses offers various styles and dimensions, which make it surprisingly adaptable to various backyard sizes. Contact our experienced team to help you determine the perfect fit for your space.
What colours can I order a greenhouse in?
Our greenhouses can be powder-coated in a range of popular Dulux Duralloy colours, including Karaka, Grey Friars, Ebony, Mist Green, Permanent Green, and White. If you’re after something different, we can also customise the colour to suit your home or garden – just get in touch.
Where are the Eden greenhouse products designed and manufactured?
All Eden Greenhouses are proudly designed and manufactured in Dunedin, New Zealand by our locally owned, family-run team.
How do I clean my greenhouse?
A gentle wash with warm soapy water and a soft brush will keep your greenhouse looking great. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the glazing. Most customers give theirs a clean once or twice a year.
How long will an aluminium greenhouse last?
An Eden aluminium greenhouse can last decades. Aluminium won’t rust or rot, and our NZ-made frames are engineered for local weather, from coastal salt spray to inland frosts. Many of our customers are still using their Eden Greenhouse 20+ years on.
Is glass or polycarbonate better for NZ conditions?
Both have their place. Glass offers classic clarity and long-term light transmission, while polycarbonate is lighter and shatter-resistant — great for high-wind or family-friendly gardens. We can help you choose the right glazing for your climate and needs.
Can I get spare parts for my Eden greenhouse?
Absolutely. Because we manufacture in New Zealand, we can supply spare parts for both new and older models. Whether it’s a pane, a panel, or a clip, we’ll help you keep your Eden growing strong.
Why are Eden greenhouses powder-coated component by component?
Unlike some manufacturers who powder-coat pre-assembled frames, we powder-coat every individual part before assembly. This helps ensure that as much of the structure as possible is coated before assembly, reducing the chance of uncoated seams where moisture could gather.
Powder coating is mostly aesthetic, but with proper finish and maintenance, it supports the longevity of the greenhouse frame.
Do Eden greenhouses corrode?
Eden Greenhouses have a greater resistance to corrosion than steel. For added protection, Eden’s individual parts are powder-coated before assembly. This pre-assembly coating helps ensure that joints and edges are protected, reducing the areas where moisture can seep in and cause corrosion over time. With regular cleaning and proper maintenance, you can further minimise the risk of corrosion and keep your greenhouse looking and performing its best for years to come.
Do Eden Greenhouses come with a warranty?
We offer a comprehensive warranty that covers your greenhouse frame for 20 years. You can read the comprehensive warranty policy for more information.
What are the benefits of gardening with a greenhouse?
A greenhouse lets you enjoy the satisfaction of growing your own plants in a protected, year-round environment. You can grow more varieties, shield your plants from wind, rain, and pests, and create ideal conditions for tastier produce and healthier growth. Many customers also find their greenhouse becomes a peaceful space to relax and enjoy time in the garden, no matter the weather.

How can I prepare my site for installation?
Your greenhouse needs a solid foundation so the base can be fixed to the ground. This can be a full concrete pad, or concrete piles set into the ground at each corner, beside the double doors, and spaced every 1.5m along the longer sides. Wooden foundations follow the same layout, with wooden piles sunk securely into the ground.
What do I do if I am having trouble during assembly?
We understand greenhouse assembly can be a bit tricky in parts. You can follow our step-by-step assembly videos for extra guidance, or get in touch with our team – we’re always here to help.
What do I do if a part is missing or doesn’t meet quality expectations?
If anything in your greenhouse kit is missing or doesn’t meet our usual standard, please contact us straight away. We’ll identify the part, organise a replacement, and make things right as quickly as possible so you can continue with your build.
How long does it take to assemble a greenhouse?
Most Eden Greenhouses can be assembled in half a day to a full day, depending on the size and how many helpers you have. To make things easier, we’ve put together step-by-step assembly videos you can follow along with.
How hard is it to assemble a kitset greenhouse?
Our kitsets are designed for DIY assembly with clear, step-by-step instructions. If you’re handy with basic tools, you can put one up over a weekend. Many customers build theirs with a friend or family member, as a satisfying project.
Do I need a building consent for a greenhouse in NZ?
In New Zealand, generally you need to apply for building consent if your greenhouse is over 10m2 or using permanent/heavy materials such as concrete walls. You will also need to ensure your greenhouse is setback at least its height and distance from the boundaries. It is your responsibility to check with the council or apply for exemptions but the Eden Greenhouse team are here to chat through any questions you have.
